ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly wreck in Buchanan County. The Patrol says it happened on 169 Highway, five miles south of St. Joseph, at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say 22-year-old Joel Queener, of Kansas City, was driving a 2008 Kia Sportage, which crossed the center line, striking a 2011 Chevy Impala and a 1998 Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Impala suffered minor injuries, but the driver of the Corolla, 76-year-old Steve Petrovick of Gower, was declared dead at the scene.
It's unknown if he was wearing a seat belt. Queener was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, and careless and imprudent driving.
